OCD RACING SPORTS BIKE

We'd like to welcome OCD Racing as the Sports Bike Class sponsor for Round 1 of the Toyo Tires Sport Compact Drag Racing Series. OCD Racing was created in 2004 in Oakleigh, Victoria by owner Mike Darcy following a long association within the motorcycle and automotive performance after-market industries and a passionate following of drag-bike racing over the last three decades.

The shop specialises in customising sports bikes, street-fighters and pro-street Japanese motorcycles from mild to wild.  Street style compact bikes have become their specialty in a state starved of specialised pro-street and drag-bike builders.  While a select few other bike shops are starting to offer 'bolt-on' custom work, OCD Racing are one of the few who offer ground-up builds in the state.  OCD Racing also carry a large range of aftermarket performance and 'bling' parts to suit Japanese bikes and also offer regular servicing and maintenance as well.

OCD Racing competed in the 2006/2007 Sport Compact Group Drag Racing Series in both Sports Bike and Outlaw Sports Bike at both Heathcote and WSID and achieved modest results with limited track exposure.  In the 2008 Toyo Tires Sport Compact Group Drag Racing Series, they will compete again in both classes with additional bikes and also increased enthusiasm.

"We are pleased to have been given the opportunity to sponsor a class bracket for the opening round of the 2008 Series at Heathcote and look forward to competing at both WSID and the Jamboree at Willowbank in August.  OCD Racing sees the current styles of both Sports Bike and Outlaw Sports Bike as the future trend for high-tech drag-bike racing in Australia"
commits Mike Darcy of OCD Racing.

Come and see OCD Racing in action this Saturday, Feb 2nd at Round 1 of the Toyo Tires Sport Compact Group Drag Racing Series at Heathcote Park Raceway for the Summer Slam. Click HERE for details.

2041HP FOR GAS MOTORSPORT 3.2LTR 2JZ!

Yes, you read correctly! In the lead up to Round 1 of the Toyo Tires Sport Compact Group Drag Racing Series, Gas Motorsport have been putting in the Dyno miles. The Gas Motorsports Team has been cranking out some very impressive horsepower. 2041hp (1522kw) from a turbocharged 3.2Ltr (195cubes) 6 cylinder 2JZ Toyota engine! Anyway you do the maths that's an impressive amount of power.

"With the Gas Motorsport Celica running consistent 6sec passes with the 3Ltr combo from the Camrydore, the time has come to step up game with our 3.2Ltr engine. Cracking the magic 2000hp mark is a great achievement for us all. The challenge for us now is getting all that power to the race track. With the extra horsepower everything changes, including clutch setup, chassis dynamics and so on. I doubt we'll be able to get all the power to the track at Heathcote but we'll certainly give it our best shot"
.comments Joe Signorelli of Gas Motorsport.

SERIES RULES UPDATE

For the 2008 Toyo Tires Sport Compact Group Drag Racing Series we have some major change in the Sports Bike Class. The Sports Bike Class as been opened out to allow a wide range of modification. Previously there was a large number of Sports Bike stuck midway between Sports Bike & Outlaw Sports Bike. With the changes made for 2008, the Sports Bike Class will become the perfect breeding ground for the Outlaw Class, with riders honing their skills and bike setup before stepping onto Outlaw SB. There are 5 new class records available within Sports Bike for riders to aim for. Outlaw Sports Bike too has had a tidy up to clarify some wording issues and make it easier to understand.

The Series points calculation have received some fine tuning to reward those racers that travel interstate to support Rounds of the Series Currently we have a short version of the Rule Book available for download HERE which contains the change made in BLUE. In the coming weeks the full rule book will be available.
