ROAD DETOUR TO ROUND 2 - MINI-JAM THIS WEEKEND
Thanks to the Main Roads Department, a section of the Cunningham Hwy will be closed to traffic on both Saturday the 1st of March & Sunday the 2nd of March for maintenance on an overpass.
This means if you are coming from Brisbane to Round 2 of the Toyo Tires Sport Compact Group Drag Racing Series, the Mini-Jam you'll need to follow a different route. Basically the Cunningham Hwy will be closed from Ipswich Road to the Redbank Plains Rd/Mary St overpass.
The alternate route we suggest if you are coming from Brisbane, is to continue along Ipswich Rd onto Brisbane Rd, through Dinmore into Booval. Turn left on to South Station Rd, (can't miss it, Booval Fair Shopping on the corner). Follow South Station Rd until you hit the Cunningham Hwy again and turn right onto it. We'll also have a number of detour signs along the route to help out.
On your return exit the Cunningham Hwy left onto South Station Rd and then right onto Brisbane Rd. Click on the map courtesy courtesy of Tony from Speed FM.

120 ENTRIES READY FOR ROUND 2 THIS SATURDAY

For the first time since last year's Castrol EDGE Jamboree, the Toyo Tires Sport Compact Group Drag Racing Series will hit Willowbank Raceway this weekend, for round two of the 2008 season - the 3rd Annual Mini-Jam Sport Compact Group Showdown.
With the series returning to the Sunshine State for the first time since November of last year, the gloves will be off with not only series points but also National Records on the racers minds with Willowbank's high traction surface providing the prime base for quick times.
Sports Compact Group Manager Ray Box said with over 120 entries in 12 classes and an extensive Mini-Jam Off-Track program including the Show-N-Shine, Sound Display, Babes on Stage, Traders and much more this Saturday the 1st of March will be an event not to be missed.
"After Melbourne's first event last month the field are really chewing at the bit to get to Willowbank Raceway this weekend with all the competitors determined to set some fast times on the strong track surface," said Box.
"With over 120 competitors in 12 classes there will be plenty of on-track action, however a few to watch will be Joe Signorelli in the Pro Turbo bracket, Collin Willshire in the Pro Compact and the three Outlaw Sports Bikes of Dave Gilbert, Jamie Bezzina and Leonard Azzopardi."
"Signorelli is really pushing hard, to get his car fixed after he crashed at Sydney's Summernationals only a few weekends ago - although it was not a bad crash it was enough to ensure the team have been working feverishly in an attempt to have the Celica back on the track. Even if the Celica doesn't make it the Gas Team have their 2nd car ready to race. The Gas Camry is no slouch having run a 6.88 at Jamboree 2006.".
"Willshire will be another one for the fans to keep their eye on as he looks to break into the seven second zone in his Datsun 1200 Ute after putting down a Personal Best time at a private testing session at Willowbank last Friday with a 8.02s at 165mph (265.5km/h). In the Bikes, it is my personal opinion that the three entered in the Outlaw Sport Bike category - Gilbert, Bezzina and Azzopardi - are three of the quickest in the country at the moment, and so will be sure to turn on a show for the fans this Saturday."
General admission at Round 2 of the Toyo Tires Sport Compact Group Drag Racing Series - the 3rd Annual Mini-Jam Sport Compact Showdown this Saturday is $30 for Adults with Student's Entry with ID at $25. All tickets include unlimited pit access, and children 13 and under are free. For more details click on the Toyo Tires Sport Compact Group Drag Racing Series logo above.
