Toyo Tires Sport Compact Group Drag Racing Series - Press Release 36

ROUND 2 SHOWCASE ON SBS SPEEDWEEK TV THIS SUNDAY

Round 2 of the Toyo Tires Sport Compact Group Drag Racing Series from Willowbank Raceway hits your TV screens Australia Wide this Weekend!

This Sunday, April 20th at 1pm (check your local guides) will see the SBS Speedweek program showcase a one hour special from Round 2 of the Toyo Tires Series, the Mini-Jam, held at Willowbank Raceway in Queensland March 1st.

Entrant numbers peaked at 120 with plenty of new cars, quick times, and some tough action on the track. With the traction problems experienced at Heathcote in Round 1 the teams were itching to laid down the rubber on Willowbank’s legendary surface. As the time cards went on to show they weren’t disappointed with many racers laying down PB’s throughout the event.

McKern & Associates Pro Turbo saw a David and Goliath battle, with Brisbane based Collin Willshire of Jett Racing with his 7sec, 4 cylinder, 4G63 powered Datsun 1200 Ute, take on the might of the Gas Motorsports 6 cylinder 2JZ powered Toyota Celica driven by Joe Signorelli.

All this and more wheels up action from Round 2 of the Toyo Tires Sport Compact Group Drag Racing Series, this Sunday, April 20th at 1pm on SBS.

SIGNORELLI TAKES ON WEDLOCK
AT CASTROL EDGE TIN TOP TITLES

When Gas Motorsports Joe Signorelli and Tony Wedlock of Ultimate Motorsport last met at the US Top Fuel meet at WSID, it culminated in a historic moment with the 1st Australian side-by-side, 6-sec Sport Compact pass. Wedlock stopped the clocks at a 6.830 @ 205.60mph and Signorelli not far behind with a 6.921 @ 196.16mph. Wedlocks 6.830 made him the quickest Sport Compact car in the country.

This weekend (April 18th & 19th) the battle resumes at the Castrol EDGE Tin Top Titles at Willowbank Raceway in QLD. Both teams were out testing last weekend with Signorelli stepping up to the plate with a 6.84 @ 200mph at WSID. Wedlock too was out testing but was fighting a few gremlins in the TRD Camry at Willowbank Raceway. Wedlock said come the Castrol EDGE Tin Top Titles we'll be ready to defend our title.

With both cars with in 0.01sec of each other it's going to be one hell of a show down. Wedlock & Signorelli are scheduled to hit the track in qualifying on Friday at 6.50pm with the 1st of 3 Rounds of racing kicking of at 4.44pm on Saturday. If you are unable to make it to Willowbank this weekend make sure you listen to all the action LIVE with Speed FM.
