THE MAZFIX FAMILY GROWS
Source: - Mazfix Press Release
We are pleased to officially announce that work on our new Pro Rear Wheel Drive Car is well underway. The car was purchased as an empty chassis, and had a strong racing pedigree in the states NHRA and Sport Compact racing with a best time of 6.95 @ 203mph as piloted by Craig Paisley running a TRD Backed 2JZ 6 cylinder combination.
The car will return to the track sporting a brand new Mazfix Built 20B Single Turbo package looking at storming us back into the Number 1 spot and the 6 second zone & running quicker than 200+mph where we left off back in 2005 after Archie’s Accident.
We are expecting that the Toyota Tacoma Aussie spec 2003 Hilux), will draw a lot of attention being the first pro-stock truck in the country which is why some many companies have been trying to get on board for the first truly unique sports compact car to race in the Australian series.
Even though there is still an enormous amount of in-house custom fabrication work to be completed we are aiming to debut the car at 2008 Castrol EDGE Jamboree in the McKern & Assoc Pro Turbo class with the help of our new Sponsors including Garrett Turbo Chargers, East Coast Lubes, Go Fast Bits and Colin Harper Concreting, with more names to be revealed soon.
Since 2006 Archie has been having fun in his former street car, a Mazda FD RX7, and has since taken the title of Worlds Fastest Un-Tubbed RX7 in the process making the 20BKILR Number Plates feared with a current personal best of 8.04 and a speed best of 174.9mph. So all I can say is keep your eyes out for the new look Mazfix Team at your nearest race track some time very soon...

BLACK TRACK CRESSIDA HUNTING FOR 8'S
Anyone who has attended a Sport Compact Group event in the last 3 years will be familiar with the 1JZ747 Cressida from Black Track Performance Dyno centre and its scary fast top end charges on its competitors in Turbosmart Street RWD. After the disappointment of an electrical issue putting them out of eliminations at the 2008 Mackenzie’s Motor Trimming Compak Attak in Sydney, Shane and Justin are confident with the always great conditions at Willowbank Raceway, we will see the Silver Ghost run its first 8 sec pass.
In April Shane was using his Cressida as a wedding car so the orders were to keep it streetable, now with the rego a thing of the past, Shane say’s it now a “full blown S/RWD car, though don’t rule out a change to ST289 next year, with a 800 less pounds of weight, slicks and a transbrake I reckon we can mix it with the pointy end of the class”.
On the Saturday prior to Mackenzie’s Motor Trimming Compak Attak the 747 received a bigger boost injection and recorded a whopping 960.4 RWHP, more than enough to run into the 160 mph even at the Cressida’s heavy weight. “We’ve gone to a taller radial to help with traction when it comes on hard at the 330 foot mark” Shane stated, “ we have also taken some more weight out of the car to get it closer to minimum weight of 3100 pounds”.
So keep an eye out on qualifying Saturday morning and see this crazy Cressida push the boundaries of a car that should be parked at a local bowls tournament. If the past performance of this car is anything to go by, the boys in Street 289 better watch out when it moves into the slick class. For more information about the Cressida or Black Track Performance log onto www.1jz747.com or www.blacktrackperformance.com or go see them at their stand at the Castrol EDGE Jamboree.

BIG BIRD LOSES WEIGHT
Big Bird loses weight, 60Kgs to be precise!! That's the weight difference between bike owner/regular rider Dave Gilbert and crew chief Terry Jackson who takes over riding duties for the 2008 Castrol EDGE Jamboree in the Rapid Magazine Outlaw Sports Bike Class. 60kgs is no small amount for a car to lose, on a bike it's huge! This will ensure plenty of interest in the bike at Willowbank.
"There's only one way to find out just how much I'm slowing the bike down" laughed Gilbert who ran a PB at the recent Mackenzie's Motor Trimming Compak Attak. "Terry's pretty pumped at the opportunity. If the mechanical gremlins that we've been plagued with this season stay away, I'm confident we'll be in the 7's this meeting. I'd only be fighting for runner up spot in the series anyway, so it's a great opportunity to see how the Big Bird compares to the class front runners on equal terms."
The Big Bird has had a cooling system upgrade, with a massive 200% increase in radiator core thickness, and a bigger thermo fan. "Quite apart from the mechanical consequences, I found overheating issues very distracting when I was in stage which contributed to some pretty basic rider errors in Sydney." Added Gilbert who seems happy to leave the riding to Terry whilst he concentrates on the bike's remaining teething problems.
