HALTECH MODIFIED COMPACT
Class Designations: MC preceded by car number.
Haltech Modified Compact is run on a DYO (dial your own) system and is designed for full-bodied RWD, AWD and FWD sedan style vehicles using 4-cylinder or 5-cylinder engine or 6-cylinder OHC (over head cam) engine or 2-rotor or 3-rotor engines running 10.99 sec or quicker. FWD and AWD cars may utilize a full tube chassis; RWD cars are limited to “3/4 chassis” modifications. Maximum of 2 power adders permitted. All vehicles must have a current ANDRA Tech Inspection and meet ANDRA Safety requirements for vehicles running 10.99 sec and quicker as a minimum and meet the ANDRA Safety requirements for the performance of the vehicle. Vehicles that previously raced in Super Mod, Sports Mod, Front Mod, Street FWD, Street RWD and Street AWD and run 10.99 sec and quicker will run in this class. Treaded and slicks tyres permitted.
CLASS REGULATIONS
Engine
Engine: Production based engines only, must be in original position. Engine swaps permitted. Aftermarket blocks and cylinder heads permitted. Dry-sump and crankcase evacuation systems permitted. Maximum of 2 power adders allowed. Refer General Regulations 4.1.2.1 & 4.1.2.2
Accepted engines: - 4-cylinder (push rod or OHC) Maximum capacity 3.0 Ltr
5-cylinder (push rod or OHC) Maximum capacity 3.0 Ltr
6-cylinder (over head cam only) Maximum capacity 4.1Ltr.
2-rotor or 3-rotor
Cooling System: Refer General Regulations 4.1.1.1
Exhaust: Open exhaust permitted except where prohibited by track rules. All exhaust outlets must exit below the sill panel and be directed to the rear. All turbocharged vehicles without mufflers must have two diffuser bolts through exhaust pipe outlet. Refer General Regulations 4.1.4.
Fuel: Restricted to pump, racing petrol or methanol only. Refer General Regulations 4.1.6 and 4.1.7
Fuel Tank: Replacement fuel cell permitted. Refer General Regulations 4.1.8.2
Intercooler: Permitted. Refer General Regulation 4.1.8.3
Liquid Overflow: Required. Refer General Regulations 4.1.9
Lower Engine Containment Device: Required on all piston engine vehicles using power adders quicker than 9.00 sec on the ¼ mile. Refer General Regulations 4.1.10
Nitrous Oxide: Permitted. Refer General Regulations 4.1.12
Turbocharger, Supercharger: Permitted. Refer General Regulations 4.1.14
Driveline
Auto Trans/Converters: Refer General Regulations. 4.2.1.1, 4.2.1.2, 4.2.2 and 4.2.8
Clutch: Refer General Regulations. 4.2.3
Driveline: Drive-shaft loop required on all vehicles. Refer General Regulations. 4.2.4.
Flywheel: Refer General Regulations 4.2.5
Flywheel Shield: Required on all Manual transmission equipped vehicles. Refer General Regulations 4.2.6.
Rear Axle: Spools permitted. All supercharged or Turbocharged vehicles quicker than 7.50 sec are required to use fully floating rear hubs. Refer General Regulations. 4.2.7
Transmissions: Any transmission permitted. Automated, timer-type, electric, electronic, hydraulic, etc. shifting mechanism prohibited, each shift must be a function of the driver and controlled manually. (Driver must pull the lever) Trans brakes permitted. Refer General Regulations. 4.2.1.1, 4.2.2, 4.2.1.2 and 4.2.8
Brakes and Suspension
Brakes: Refer General Regulations 4.3.1.
Steering: Aftermarket steering gear permitted. Refer General Regulations 4.3.3.
Front Suspension: Aftermarket control arms permitted and non-OEM mounting points permitted. Must have one working shock absorber/strut per wheel with minimum travel of 25mm and must use original upper mounting point. Strut tower braces, lower tie bars, sway bars, and limit straps are permitted. Any other modifications prohibited. Refer General Regulations 4.3.4.
Rear Suspension: Aftermarket suspension permitted including traction bars/ladder bar devices and four-link suspensions. Must have one working shock absorber/strut per wheel with minimum travel of 25mm. Refer General Regulations 4.3.4.
Wheelie Bars: Permitted. Any adjustability during run prohibited, must be fixed during run. Hydraulics, pneumatics, electronics, etc. prohibited. Wheelie-bar wheels must spin free at the starting line before launch. Any preload prohibited.
Body and Chassis
Airfoils / Wings / Spoilers: Permitted. Airfoils / Wings / Spoilers may NOT be wider than the widest part of the vehicle body. Any movement or adjustment during a run is prohibited.
Body: Any automotive or light truck body permitted. OEM body must be used with mild customising permitted. Must retain full-bodied size and appearance, with minimum 2 functional doors. Notching of OEM firewall permitted for engine and bell housing clearance. Lightweight bonnet, guards, doors, bumpers and boot permitted only. One-piece front clips permitted. Maximum front overhang 45 inches (1143mm) measured from front most part of vehicle to the centre of front axle.
Chassis: FWD & AWD vehicles may utilize full tube chassis. FWD & AWD vehicles may be converted to RWD. RWD vehicles or vehicles converted to RWD are limited to 3/4 chassis replacement only from the A pillar back and full roll cage mandatory with bracing from front suspension towers to roll cage permitted. Modifications forward of the A pillar are subject to SCG approval. Refer General Regulations 4.4.3, 4.4.7.1 and 4.4.7.4.
Wheelbase: Must retain original wheelbase of vehicle plus or minus 3 inch (75mm). Maximum wheelbase variation from left to right is 1 inch (25.4mm).
Windshield/Windows: May be replaced with lexan or plexiglass with a minimum thickness of 3mm.
Wheels and Tyres
Tyres: Racing slicks permitted. Retreads or space saver spares prohibited. Refer General Regulations 4.5.2.
Wheels: Must be suitable for street or racing use. Use of temporary replacement wheels or space savers are prohibited. Refer General Regulations 4.5.3.
Interior
Interior: Optional. If OEM dashboard is removed it must be replaced with a fabricated or aftermarket unit. Minimum of a drivers seat required. Refer General Regulations 4.6.1.
Electrical
Batteries: Refer General Regulations 4.8.1.1 and 4.8.1.2
Computer: Aftermarket and piggy back computers permitted. Data loggers permitted. Refer General Regulation 4.9.2 and 4.9.3
Delay Devices: Not permitted. Refer General Regulations 4.8.2
Ignition: Aftermarket ignition systems permitted. Rev limiters and two steps permitted. Refer General Regulations 4.8.3
Night Lighting: Headlights may be painted on. Operational taillight required. Refer General Regulations 4.7.7
Driver and Safety
ANDRA Tech Inspection: Required. Refer General Regulations 4.9.10
Arm Restraints/Window Nets: Required. Refer General Regulations 4.6.2 and 4.10.2
Fire Extinguisher System: Permitted. Refer General Regulations 4.9.4.1 and 4.9.4.2
Head Protector: Required. Refer General Regulations 4.10.7.1
Helmet: Required. Refer General Regulations 4.10.8.
Licence Requirements: Must have ANDRA UDL as a minimum. Subject to track sanction requirements. Refer Credentials 4.10.3.
Neck Collar: Refer General Regulations 4.10.7.2
Parachute: Compulsory on all vehicles exceeding 140 mph (224 kph) Refer General Regulations 4.4.6
Protective Clothing: As required for vehicles running 10.99 sec as a minimum. Refer General Regulations 4.10.10
Safety Belts: Minimum of four-point harness required. Refer General Regulations 4.10.11
General
Sponsor Decals: All racers must display the event and class sponsor decals on both sides of the race vehicle at all times during the event. Decals must be in a prominent location, clearly visible as required by Sport Compact Group Pty Ltd. Failure to do so will forfeit any prize purse posted and may lead to disqualification. No other event decals permitted.
Tow Vehicles: Permitted. Refer General Regulations 4.9.9.1 and 4.9.9.2
